Chorus Club – 4th & 5th grade

The Chorus Club is an extension of the music curriculum with an emphasis on performance skills. Students will participate in numerous performances throughout the year, including the annual PTA concert, Spring concert and other community events.

 

Gwinnett County Elementary Honor Chorus – Selected 5th grade students

Sponsors:  R. Shivers and L. Barker

This opportunity provides for a limited number of talented 5th grade chorus students to participate in a large group performance workshop with other students throughout the county.

 

Art Club – 5th grade

Sponsors: B. Sharpe and C. Buice

Art Club provides opportunities for 5th grade students to participate in enrichment activities in visual arts including printmaking and clay pottery.

 

Math Club – 4th and 5th grade

Sponsors: J. Wetzel, J. Nelson, K. Moore

The purpose of Math Club is to improve members' mental computational skills and fluency using the Conventional Order of Operations by recognizing sequences and operations for target solutions. Math Club members meet weekly to play Witzzle Pro.  Witzzle Pro is a mental math computations game using a 3X3 grid card of the numbers 1-9, the basic operations, and order of operations to create an equation which equals the target number.  They must identify the line, column, or diagonal of three numbers that provide a correct equation for a designated solution number. The culminating event for Math Club is participation in a local Witzzle Pro tournament with four North Gwinnett Cluster elementary schools.  Winners of this tournament have the option to participate in the county Witzzle competition.

 

PE Club – 5th grade

The purpose of the P.E. Club is to provide additional opportunities for 5th grade students to participate in physical education activities. The club is an extension of the regular P.E. curriculum and will include fitness activities, manipulative skills, fundamental movements, partner warm-ups and group games.

 

Book Club – 4th and 5th grade

This program promotes language arts skills and fosters a love of literature.

Students read books from “Reader’s Rally”, GCPS list, and compete at county a competition on Feb. 2

 

Student Council – 4th and 5th grade

Sponsors: J. O’Keefe, V. Noland, B. Robertson, & C. Whitten

The purpose of the Student Council is to provide students in grades 4 and 5 the opportunity to experience the roles of government within their school.  Students will have the chance to vote on various needs of the school and will take a field trip to the state capital to view the house and senate in action.  The major project for student council will be organizing and collecting toys for the annual U.S. Marine Corps. Toys for Tots toy drive held in November.  At the end of the year students will have voted on and picked a school project they will work on to help better our school and its needs.  Student council will meet once a month during school hours for approximately 30 minutes. 

 

Service ClubService Club– 5th grade

Sponsors:  Lynn Hunnicutt, Stacey Miller, Jeff Lopes & David Schoenrock

The purpose of the Service Club is to provide 5th grade students opportunities to help the community. Through activities, members are taught the importance of helping others, animals and taking care of the earth. Students meet on the 2nd Monday of every month from 2:30-3:30. Students will also be given numerous opportunities to help with school wide food, coat and pet supply drives as well as be a member on the recycling team.
